“I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.” Psalm 9:1

This time last year, I would have just received my 3rd round of chemotherapy. A month prior, I was at U of M Hospital for my 3rd kidney biopsy in 4 years. After years of doctor appointments, and unanswered questions, it was then that I learned that my kidneys were only functioning at 14%. At 10% I would have needed a kidney transplant, and dialysis, but God!

On October 12, 2017 I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis. The damage to my kidneys were so severe that the recommended treatment was to begin chemotherapy immediately. I was shocked, heartbroken, and confused – yet I never lost my faith. I trusted God, who is the Great Physician. My Jehovah Rophe- The God who heals!

I received chemo treatments for 6 months, with my last round being in March of this year. As a wife and a mother of a 2 year old, it was the most challenging experience I’ve ever faced. I oftentimes felt guilty for how sick I was, how tired I was, and how much pain I was in. But thank God for a supportive and loving family that never left my side. I am still on the road to recovery, and I still have a long way to go, but I thank God that my kidney function is improving. I am also grateful that the markers for Lupus are no longer showing up in my lab reports! My doctors think that I will have Lupus for the rest of my life, but I serve a God that can do the impossible. By faith, I received my healing, in Jesus’ name.

Prior to receiving my diagnosis, I launched my very first business, a t-shirt line, however my illness did not allow me the time, or energy to keep up with the demands. After I received my last round of chemo, I began praying for an opportunity to earn more money, to use my Business Degrees, and to help secure a future for my son. In September, I discovered Paparazzi Accessories. I loved the fact that they offered affordable and fashionable jewelry for only $5! I loved seeing how the company encouraged, inspired and uplifted women. This was truly beautiful to see because as I was receiving chemo, my self-confidence took a mighty blow. I would cry as I looked at myself in the mirror. I was embarrassed to be seen. For the most part, I stayed in my house, unless I was going the the hospital, doctor appointments, or to pick up prescriptions. To see this company with a mission and desire to build women’s self-confidence, I was impressed, to say the least.

Fear tried to deter me, as I began questioning myself saying “Can I do this?” What if I fail? What if no one supports me?” However, one night, I had a dream, and it gave me the courage that I needed to step out on faith and sign up to start my own business as an Independent Consultant for Paparazzi Accessories!

In these last 2 months alone, I have stepped out of my comfort zone in ways that I’ve never imagined. I have been blessed to meet some phenomenal women, including the beautiful women of RG4C! For that, I am forever grateful. Paparazzi Accessories has allowed me to help increase our household income, pay off some of my debt, as well as begin a savings fund for my son’s college education. Investing in myself has been the greatest reward. I am in constant prayer over my business and I believe God will continue to show Himself mighty as I press forward on this journey to financial freedom. Amen!
